Developing Students’ AI Literacies

Fall 2025 Short Course

“Developing Students’ AI Literacies,” led by Lori Mumpower, offers instructors an in-depth workshop series on how to effectively harness artificial intelligence tools in the classroom.

Given the challenges with the broad availability of artificial intelligence, how can instructors manage these new sets of tools to promote student success? To what extent can we develop students’ disciplinary expertise, while also developing students’ critical use of AI tools?

In this short course, instructors will learn about an AI literacy framework to develop their own and students’ AI literacies. Participants meet consecutively for three face-to-face workshops during Fall semester to learn more about the potential and drawbacks of AI tools in the classroom and create activities, resources, and assessment materials for their own AI plans in spring semester. Post-short course, instructors will have the opportunity to receive feedback on their AI classroom plans.

East Campus meetings: On Tuesdays, 9/16, 9/23, 9/30, from 3:30-4:20pm in Room 201 in the Teaching Excellence Building (924 S Morgan St)

West Campus meetings: On Wednesdays, 9/17, 9/24, 10/1, from 1:00-1:50pm in Room 470 in the Retzky College of Pharmacy (833 S Wood St)
