Overview
Welcome to the front of the classroom! Whether you have used Canvas as a student or are logging in to the platform for the very first time, this interactive workshop is designed to prepare you for the teaching side of the platform. As a teaching assistant, learning to navigate Canvas and use common features can help ensure you and the students you are supporting have a smooth semester. In this hands-on session, we will uncover strategies for communication, grading, assignments, quizzes, and discussions. You will leave this session equipped with essential course management skills and the confidence to effectively use Canvas to support students from day one. Please bring a laptop or device to practice working through Canvas tasks
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify key differences between the teacher’s and student's views in Canvas using View as Student.
- Communicate with students using Canvas Announcements and the Inbox.
- Manage discussion boards by creating new topics and responding to students.
- Navigate the Canvas Gradebook and SpeedGrader to provide feedback and review quiz results.
