Overview
UIC classrooms reflect a wide range of student identities, backgrounds, learning needs, and lived experiences. As TAs, fostering an inclusive, equitable, and accessible learning environment is essential to supporting all students. This interactive workshop will introduce TAs to inclusive teaching strategies – what they are, why they matter, and how to start using them right away. We’ll focus on practical, easy-to-apply strategies that help engage all students, whether you're leading a discussion section, grading assignments, or giving a lecture.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Recognize key principles of inclusive teaching and explain how they support student learning.
- Identify common barriers to student success and explore inclusive strategies to address them in various teaching contexts.
- Develop a personalized toolkit of inclusive teaching strategies for use across different instructional contexts.
