Somewhere along the course of your career, you may have heard about metacognition: the value of being aware about the ways in which you think. As an instructor, you may already assign projects or work that encourage your students to reflect metacognitively. Acknowledging the key part that metacognition plays for learning and growth, how can your feedback to students (written, video, or audio) help both you and your students think about your students’ learning process in the course?
During this workshop, participants will:
- Learn about the value of encouraging metacognition in students through their preferred feedback style
- Explore strategies and strengths of various feedback practices
- Reflect on how their feedback impacts student learning
