Integrated Multimedia Lectern Classrooms

An Integrated Multimedia Lectern (IML) classroom.

An Integrated Multimedia Lectern (IML) classroom.

Making up 81% of UIC centrally-managed classrooms, our Integrated Multimedia Lectern (IML) classrooms allow instructors to show up, log into the existing system, and begin lecturing immediately. The current generation of Integrated Multimedia Lecterns provide an installed computer but add enhancements like Blu-Ray players, support for current and future connectivity for laptops, a control interface, and increased stability and performance. Some rooms also have document cameras or dual projectors to display more than one content source at a time, and/or other special features. Additionally, in classrooms where the instructor area is accessible, the lectern is height-adjustable to improve accessibility.

Record or livestream your class Heading link

One of the benefits of teaching in a classroom with Integrated Multimedia is that all of the technology is already installed in the classroom for you. You can choose from a number of technologies to stream and record your lectures. Use Zoom or Blackboard Collaborate if you want to see your remote students on camera.

Learn how to connect a laptop and how to use two screens in Zoom, which help your ability to present while keeping an eye on the chat panel. Echo360 is also built into every lectern if you just want to stream and record your class session, and will interact with remote students through chat only. You can do even more with your Zoom recordings by automatically loading them to Echo360, or“opt-in” to Panopto.
