There’s a New Blackboard Login Page

ED TECH SPOTLIGHT

LMS analytics can show patterns in learners’ data and empower instructors to make data-driven decisions to deliver exceptional learning experiences.

The new blackboard login page features images of students paired with short paragraphs of text. Infographics enumerating how many digital assessments, digital exams and word quizzes have been administered are below.

We would like to share with you the updated login page for UIC Blackboard LMS being released on 11/18/22.

New Features Include:

Contrast Ratio Accessibility Improvements
Contrast and color use are vital to accessibility. Users, including users with visual disabilities, must be able to perceive content on the page. The login page will now have higher contrast to more fully meet the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.

Keyboard Navigation Accessibility Improvements
Keyboard accessibility is one of the most important aspects of web accessibility. Many users with motor disabilities rely on a keyboard. UIC users will now be able to navigate the login page using a keyboard.

Playable Audio from Text Accessibility Improvements
Some people with disabilities, including people who are blind, use specialized software called screen readers. Screen readers provide important functionality such as navigating through headings, speaking image alternatives, and identifying internal and external links. The login page will now have text to speech capability to convert and play text as audio.

Mobile-first Design
Responsive design allows the site to rearrange and/or hide its content blocks based on whether the user is viewing it on a desktop, tablet, or smartphone. The login page employed a design strategy that focused on mobile design, in order to provide a seamless experience for all devices.

Learning Analytics
Learning data can help leaders gain deep insight into what’s working well and what isn’t. LMS analytics can show patterns in learners’ data and empower instructors to make data-driven decisions to deliver exceptional learning experiences. The login page will now include learning analytics about key LMS tools like digital exams, assignments, and video quizzes.
