About

Emily Potratz has a joint appointment as a Postdoctoral Research Associate and Visiting Lecturer with the Center for the Advancement of Teaching Excellence and the Graduate College. Emily earned her Ph.D. in Biological Science, with a concentration in Ecology and Evolution, from UIC in 2023 and her B.S. in Animal Science from Purdue University in 2012. During her Ph.D. she served as a teaching assistant (TA) and instructor of record for various biology courses and completed the Graduate College’s Foundations of College Instruction certificate. Emily is excited to continue working with the UIC community to deliver equity-minded and accessible teaching resources and programming to UIC graduate TAs. One such program is a new course she will teach, Introduction to College-Level Teaching for Graduate TAs.

Emily works to maintain a functioning stress response through swimming, roller skating, reading by the lake, and spending time with her dog, Millie.
