Transparency in Teaching

October 16, 2024

10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Virtual event

Overview

Recent findings in transparency reveal that transparent instruction contributes significantly to student success; these results are even more significant for first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students. Transparency methods encourage faculty to reveal to students how and why they are learning the ways that they are. This online workshop will provide faculty with a number of teaching strategies that contribute to transparency. In addition, participants will work to adapt an assignment to be more transparent to students.

After participating in this workshop you will be able to:

  • Identify teaching methods for improving transparency in your classroom
  • apply transparency methods to an assignment description

EVENT FORMAT: This workshop will be online on Zoom.

EVENT LEAD: Lori Mumpower, mumpower@uic.edu
