Increase Belonging and Participation in the Classroom with Improv

flyer for increase belonging and participation in the classroom with improv teaching tidbits workshop

Join us on Friday, March 1st from 10:30-11:45 am at the Teaching Excellence Building for a special Teaching Tidbits Workshop exploring how the tenets of improv theatre can increase belonging and participation in classrooms of all disciplines and the research-backed reasons why!

Inspired by conversations between members of the fall 2023 cohort of the Inclusive Education Scholars Certificate Program on how to foster students’ sense of belonging, facilitators Morgan Lord, Diana Soriano, and Dionna Griffin-Irons will engage workshop participants in activities designed to enhance active listening skills and build trust and team collaboration. In their roles as faculty members from the College of Business Administration’s Professional Development Program, they bring their improv training into the classroom as a way of helping students increase their spontaneity and embrace a growth mindset in the classroom. CATE is excited to have them share their expertise with the rest of the CATE community.
