Meet the 2022-2023 Action Research Scholars

INSTRUCTIONAL INNOVATIONS

Congratulations to our first cohort of UIC instructors who have been accepted into CATE’s Action Research Scholars program!

Action Research Scholars

Meet the Action Research Scholars and read more about who they are: Yeow Siow, Lieke van Heumen, and Charitianne Williams will start their projects in Fall 2022, and Trischa Duke, Claudia Fernández, and Sajna Razi will start their projects in Spring 2023.

The goal of this new Action Research Scholars program is to inspire and empower UIC instructors to engage in data-informed, reflective teaching practices. Scholars will ask the broad question “How do I know I’m effective in my teaching?” by using a variety of approaches to investigate the various impacts of teaching practices and curricular design on the student learning experience in their courses. This is a year-long professional learning program where scholars will spend the first semester participating in workshops to develop a research project, including completing human subjects research training and obtaining IRB approval, and the second semester on data collection and analysis.
