Nursing Certification in Teaching

Admission: Fall and spring

The Teaching/Learning in Nursing and Health Sciences Certificate provides preparation for a career in education in a variety of contexts. The courses focus on theories and processes related to instructional design and delivery, learner assessment and evaluation, and curriculum design and development. In their capstone course, students apply and synthesize content in a practicum experience that is individualized to the student's needs, interests and career goals.

The certificate is ideal for anyone wishing to join a health sciences faculty or to become a staff educator, health educator or client/patient educator. It is also for experienced educators who are preparing for the National League for Nursing’s (NLN) Certified Nurse Educator certification examination. Students who wish to sit for the exam will also need a master’s or doctoral degree in nursing and experience in the academic faculty role. Please see the NLN website for more information.

Application deadline for spring is November 15.
Application deadline for fall is July 15.
